About Grant

Grant Barnette is a professional ultra trail runner and endurance athlete from Lenoir, North Carolina. Grant attended West Caldwell High School where he was a standout athlete competing in Soccer, Wrestling, Track & Field, and particularly Cross Country. He attended Mars Hill College on an athletic scholarship.

In 2016, at age 20, Grant hiked the Appalachian Trail (northbound) and was even featured as one of the interviewed hikers in Karl Meltzer's documentary "Made to Be Broken". In 2017, Grant hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (northbound).

In 2018, Grant competed in his first ultra, placing second and never looking back. In 2022, Grant turned pro following a series of strong regional performances. In 2025, he signed with Craft Sportswear to their Elite Run Team.

Grant is a proud member of the Pro Trail Runners Association and supporter of Protect Our Winters (POW). He can be seen running in both his native Appalachian Mountains and Utah's Wasatch Mountains.
